Clarins Group seeks an IT, Digital & Data Counsel in Paris. Permanent role managing data protection compliance, AI governance, and digital law matters across the luxury beauty leader.
Role & Responsibilities
- Assess compliance of projects involving personal data processing and advise operational leadership across French and international Clarins entities
- Monitor compliance actions and identify instances of non-conformity across the organization
- Draft, deploy, and maintain reference documentation including data processing registries, policies, procedures, impact assessments, and practical guides
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and data subjects regarding breaches, notifications, and communications
- Mentor and train local compliance networks to embed ethical and responsible data and AI practices throughout the group
- Draft and negotiate technology-focused contracts including SaaS, licensing, integration, development, and maintenance agreements in response to group procurement requests
- Evaluate legal and ethical risks associated with artificial intelligence systems and establish documentation protocols
- Advise operational leadership on digital law matters including e-Privacy, NIS 2, Data Act, and European Digital regulations
- Conduct continuous regulatory surveillance of technology, data protection, and innovation standards and sectoral guidance
- Design and execute prevention and training initiatives tailored to employee roles, responsibilities, and risk exposure
- Contribute actively to Legal & Compliance team initiatives including internal and external communications, knowledge-sharing, and cohesion-building
- Support process optimization initiatives leveraging artificial intelligence to modernize practices and enhance operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Master's degree in business law, digital law, personal data protection, or equivalent qualification
- Recognized professional certification such as CIPP/E or certified Data Protection Officer credential (preferred)
- Minimum 4–5 years of experience in intellectual property law and personal data protection within an in-house legal function or international law firm
- Solid understanding of data governance, personal data protection, and innovation challenges
- Excellent analytical, synthesis, and legal writing abilities
- Advanced command of written and spoken English

4–5 years of professional experience in intellectual property and data protection law, gained within a corporate legal department or international law firm of substantial scale
Education
Master's degree (M2) in business law, digital law, personal data protection, or equivalent qualification
