Clarins Group seeks Brand Communications Manager in Tokyo to lead integrated communications strategy, manage paid media and PR, and oversee a communications team.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and execute annual brand communication plans and cross-functional strategies across PR, social media, advertising, influencer partnerships, and events, optimized for the Japan market within global brand guidelines
- Create integrated 360° communication strategies for product launches and campaigns encompassing earned, owned, and paid media channels
- Design advertising strategies that balance brand communication objectives with sales maximization across the full funnel to drive new customer acquisition both online and offline
- Lead media planning, creative brief development, and agency direction; conduct performance analysis and reporting on Brand Lift, CTR, Reach, and ROAS, implementing PDCA improvement cycles
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with beauty and luxury media; plan and execute press releases, media presentations, and interviews
- Develop and manage paid PR initiatives including digital native article partnerships and magazine collaborations; measure effectiveness and ROI
- Select, cultivate, and manage influencer and KOL partnerships; oversee seeding campaigns and measure impact using influencer management platforms and EMV calculations
- Plan, operate, and direct content strategy for official social media accounts (Instagram, LINE, Facebook, X); design SNS campaigns and track KPIs including engagement and follower growth
- Conceptualize and produce media- and KOL-facing events (both physical and digital) with high-quality creative direction that embodies brand DNA
- Prepare monthly campaign outcome reports and business metrics for HQ and APAC counterparts; propose and execute localization of global brand campaigns
- Oversee annual budget build, monthly/quarterly spend tracking and reforecasting, ROI/ROAS reporting, and compliance with corporate procurement and contracting policies
- Set objectives, evaluate performance, and develop direct reports including one PR Manager, one Assistant Communications Manager, and one Communications Associate; implement team workflows and project management processes
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, E-commerce, CRM, Retail, and other departments; support team skill development and maintain motivation
Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant experience in brand communications, media, digital marketing, or agency-side account management
- Proven track record managing integrated Earned/Owned/Paid campaigns and leading cross-functional projects with HQ and regional stakeholder alignment
- Experience in the beauty, luxury, or FMCG sectors
- Excellent beauty sensibility with refined aesthetic judgment and current knowledge of beauty trends, product textures, visual storytelling, and luxury consumer preferences
- Superior stakeholder management skills; ability to collaborate effectively with HQ, APAC, internal teams, and external agencies
- Demonstrated team leadership capability including coaching, objective setting, performance management, and talent development
- Strong project management and organizational skills; proficiency in prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent campaigns
- Creative problem-solving abilities with resilience and adaptability in fast-paced environments
- Proven experience in media planning and buying processes, agency briefings, and vendor management
- Data-driven mindset with familiarity with performance metrics (Brand Lift, CTR, Reach, ROAS) and analytics tools such as GA4 and Meta Ads Manager
- Proficiency with social media management and scheduling platforms, social listening and measurement tools
- Experience with influencer management platforms and EMV calculation
- Strong copywriting and creative brief development skills; experience with content production workflows (photography and videography)
- Budget planning and financial tracking competency; proficiency in Excel and budgeting tools
- Foundational knowledge of SEO, SEA, and CRM/retention marketing is advantageous
