Role & Responsibilities
- Ensure operational continuity and reliability of automated production, packaging, and utility systems across the facility
- Conduct preventive maintenance planning and execution within the assigned scope, coordinating closely with technical team leads and cross-functional maintenance personnel
- Troubleshoot equipment failures in cooperation with technical teams, formalizing root-cause analysis documentation
- Manage obsolescence of industrial equipment and guarantee equipment availability to support production performance targets
- Implement safety improvements and modifications to production means, ensuring all safety systems function correctly and site-wide compliance is maintained
- Apply LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures to all internal and outsourced interventions, overseeing authorization, lockout, and tagging protocols
- Guarantee availability and currency of automation programmes and backups; maintain archiving and version control
- Equip production means with quality control systems as required by new production needs; ensure all in-service monitoring systems function optimally
- Document major modifications through formal Method of Operation (MOD) procedures; prepare detailed specifications for each improvement project
- Establish simplified, standardized line management protocols (startup, shutdown, safety procedures, machine interfaces) across all production lines
- Consult with external suppliers, obtain competitive quotations, and pilot modernization and improvement projects
- Support new projects initiated by the Industrialization team and maintain ongoing relationships with equipment manufacturers and contractors for technical troubleshooting assistance
- Accompany, train, and mentor cross-functional maintenance technicians on automation and process control
- Guide production line personnel in effective line operation and process mastery
- Tutor interns and apprentices in automation systems when assigned
- Participate in performance reviews and implement continuous improvement actions within the automation domain
- Propose and execute efficiency improvements to optimize production flow and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Participate in energy conservation initiatives by proposing and implementing modifications to reduce consumption
- Report and document all maintenance interventions, investigations, and improvements within the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system)
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of professional experience in a similar automation technician or controls engineering role
- Advanced technical diploma or Bachelor's degree (Bac+3 minimum) in automation, industrial electronics, or related field
- Demonstrated expertise in PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge of control systems, sensors, and industrial automation platforms
- Proficiency with CMMS (computerized maintenance management systems)
- Experience with LOTO procedures and industrial safety compliance
- Capability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and electrical drawings
Skills
Experience
Five years of professional experience in automation technology, industrial controls, or similar technical support role within a manufacturing or production environment. Experience with multi-disciplinary teams (maintenance, quality, production) and exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies is advantageous.
Education
Bachelor's degree (Bac+3) or higher in automation, industrial electronics, process control engineering, or equivalent discipline. Relevant vocational or technical certifications in PLC programming, control systems, or industrial automation are valued.
