Christian Dior Couture seeks Merchandising Trainee in New York for 12-month program supporting women's RTW business strategy and seasonal planning.
Role & Responsibilities
- Generate Excel-based sales reports including store and business recaps; track performance against sales targets
- Compile weekly merchandising updates for retail teams distribution through internal newsletter channels
- Assist with weekly inventory rebalances to optimize sell-through and sales performance
- Partner directly with retail teams to manage daily product inquiries and communications
- Monitor and track trunk show sample inventory and logistics
- Support creation of seasonal launch tools including mapping, buy books, photo management, and selling tools; adjust allocations to match client reservations
- Conduct monthly competitive market analysis and provide comprehensive recaps on pricing trends and market activities
- Support buying session preparation (4 seasonal cycles): compile premarket analysis by store and assist with collection allocation at store and size level
- Contribute strategic insights and ideas to inform merchandising and business direction
- Support weekly reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and seasonal qualitative collection feedback compilation
- Prepare fast/slow seller analysis and sell-through reports; conduct end-of-season product recaps
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months prior experience in merchandising, buying, or related internship
- Strong knowledge of retail mathematics and critical retail metrics
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Competency across Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with ability to meet tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills
Skills
Experience
At least 6 months of prior merchandising, buying, or related internship experience; luxury retail women's apparel experience is preferred. Candidate must demonstrate strong working knowledge of retail mathematics and critical retail metrics.
Education
Secondary education or equivalent; tertiary education in fashion, business, or related discipline is preferred.
