Christian Dior Couture in New York seeks a Tailor. $35–$38/hr plus benefits and bonus eligibility.
Role & Responsibilities
- Perform precision fittings, mark garments and execute high-quality alterations and repairs to Maison standards.
- Complete sewing alterations according to the alteration schedule and ensure timely delivery to customers.
- Press and finish garments using appropriate pressing and steaming techniques to preserve fabric integrity.
- Advise clients on fit, garment care, cleaning and appropriate alterations; handle customer inquiries in person and by telephone.
- Maintain an orderly tailor shop: stock supplies, hang and store altered and unaltered merchandise neatly.
- Ensure sewing machines, pressers, steamers and other equipment are well-maintained and in working order.
- Communicate customer requests and alteration details to management and participate in store meetings and training.
- Assist with problem solving and process improvement suggestions that impact service and productivity; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a tailor, seamstress, or fitter; experience in luxury retail or couture alterations preferred.
- Demonstrable ability to deliver precision workmanship in alterations, repairs and pressing.
- Proven competence operating sewing machines, pressing and ironing equipment and steamers.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent customer-service orientation and telephone etiquette.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to lift and handle heavy garments and garment bags.
- Willingness to work varied hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, and to adhere to company policies and standards.

Experience
Minimum 5 years of hands-on tailoring, alterations or fitting experience; prior work within luxury retail, couture or bespoke tailoring environments preferred.
Education
High school diploma or vocational certification in tailoring/seamstressing or equivalent practical training preferred.

Compensation
The base compensation for this position ranges from USD 35 to USD 38 per hour.
