Christian Dior Couture seeks a Small Leather Goods Pattern Maker in Florence, Italy — permanent, on‑site role developing bag patterns and technical solutions.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop patterns for small leather goods and bags from design sketches and creative briefs.
- Translate aesthetic concepts into technically sound construction solutions that meet quality and manufacturability standards.
- Define and document product specifications, measurements, markers and technical sheets.
- Support prototyping phases and work closely with sample makers to validate fit, function and finish.
- Collaborate with product development, industrialisation and sourcing teams to optimise models for production and cost efficiency.
- Identify technical issues during development cycles and propose corrective or improvement actions.
- Manage and implement modifications throughout the development process to ensure final product feasibility.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and participate in troubleshooting during pre‑production and ramp‑up.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ proven experience as a pattern maker in luxury leather goods, bags or high‑end accessories.
- Deep knowledge of construction techniques, leather behavior and suitable materials for SLG.
- Proven ability to interpret design sketches and convert them into accurate technical solutions.
- Proficiency with CAD pattern‑making systems and traditional/manual pattern‑making tools.
- Experience producing clear technical documentation and product specification sheets.
- Strong problem‑solving aptitude, meticulous attention to detail and collaborative mindset.
Skills
Experience
Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in pattern making for luxury leather goods or handbags, including involvement in prototyping and industrialisation phases.
Education
Vocational or technical diploma in fashion design, pattern making, industrial design or leather goods; equivalent hands‑on apprenticeships or professional experience in lieu of formal degree is acceptable.
