Role & Responsibilities
- Process biweekly, multistate payroll for hourly and salaried populations, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, withholdings and involuntary deductions.
- Manage timekeeping systems and processes (Kronos); validate hours, prepare missed‑punch reports, perform historical edits and coordinate with store and corporate teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain and update payroll and HRIS databases, including UKG/UltiPro, Ulti‑Pro, Core HR and Kronos; execute system transactions for new hires and employee changes.
- Run queries and produce payroll reports and audits using UKG Business Intelligence; analyze data and provide revisions to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Process bonuses, commissions and retail incentive payments and perform reconciliations between payroll and HRIS systems.
- Support payroll compliance activities: prepare annual filings (e.g., census, California EEO) and respond to audit, legal and agency data requests.
- Provide responsive payroll support to employees and management; investigate and resolve payroll and Kronos inquiries.
- Develop and update SOPs, assist in payroll communications and training, and partner with shared services and HR controlling for month‑end activities.
- Maintain organized employee digital files and complete verification of employment requests; participate in ad hoc payroll projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience in a multi‑state environment, preferably supporting retail operations and 700+ employee populations.
- Demonstrated expertise with multi‑state payroll compliance, payroll audits and reconciliations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including vLookup and Pivot tables; strong Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Experience with timekeeping and payroll systems (Kronos and UKG/UltiPro) and familiarity with HRIS and shared‑services payroll models.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to liaise professionally with corporate and retail leadership.

Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in a multi‑state company, with hands‑on responsibility for biweekly payroll processing, timekeeping administration and payroll compliance for a mid‑to‑large employee population (700+). Retail payroll experience preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
