Christian Dior Couture seeks a Leather Goods Prototype Technician in Florence, Italy — experienced in luxury handbag sample assembly and leatherworking machinery.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Assemble complete prototypes and samples of handbags at the workbench, from first model reading through finalisation.
  • Read and interpret technical patterns and models to ensure faithful reproduction of design intent.
  • Prepare and execute all construction phases: preparation, cutting support, assembly and finishing.
  • Operate primary leatherworking machinery (piana, colonna, basculante) and manual tools appropriate to high-end bag construction.
  • Work with a variety of leathers and technical materials, selecting suitable techniques for each substrate.
  • Fit and install components and metal hardware (minuterie, closures, handles) with high precision.
  • Collaborate closely with pattern makers, product development and industrialisation teams to refine prototypes.
  • Identify technical criticalities and propose pragmatic solutions to facilitate industrialisation and quality consistency.
  • Support product finalisation and sample tuning in view of transfer to production.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ hands-on experience assembling prototypes and samples of luxury handbags.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical patterns and specifications.
  • Deep knowledge of handbag construction techniques and order of operations.
  • Experience operating leatherworking machines (piana, colonna, basculante) and working across multiple leather types.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive, improvement‑oriented mindset.
