Christian Dior Couture in Florence seeks a Leather Goods Pattern Maker (permanent, on-site) to develop luxury handbag patterns and support prototyping.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop bag patterns from the stylist’s sketches and translate creative indications into technically viable constructions.
- Define and document detailed technical specifications and product data sheets.
- Support prototyping and refine models during sampling to achieve quality and fit targets.
- Collaborate continuously with product development, prototyping and industrialization teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Optimize patterns for production efficiency while preserving design intent and brand standards.
- Identify technical issues and propose corrective or improvement solutions.
- Manage modifications and iterative refinements throughout development stages.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of proven experience as a pattern maker for luxury handbags in structured, high‑end environments.
- Deep knowledge of leather goods construction techniques, materials and componentry.
- Proven experience in pattern development and use of CAD for patternmaking.
- Strong ability to interpret stylist drawings and translate them into constructive solutions.
- Experience producing technical specification sheets and supporting prototyping.
- Excellent problem‑solving aptitude, meticulous attention to detail and strong teamwork skills.
Skills
Experience
At least 5 years of experience in patternmaking for leather goods/handbags within a structured luxury fashion environment, with hands‑on involvement in prototyping and industrialization.
Education
Technical diploma or degree in fashion design, pattern making, industrial design or equivalent; professional training or apprenticeship in leather goods patternmaking preferred.
