Christian Dior Couture is hiring a Haute Couture Cutter in Paris to prepare and cut fabrics for couture and ready-to-wear garments.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret technical sheets, patterns, and design drawings to understand cutting requirements.
  • Optimize pattern placement on fabrics, accounting for grain direction, prints, defects, and material yield.
  • Cut garment pieces accurately by hand or machine using cutting shears, rotary cutters, or automated cutting machines, according to production needs.
  • Check cut pieces against patterns and technical specifications for dimensions, shape, clean edges, and cutting quality.
  • Sort, label, and package cut pieces for transfer to subsequent garment-making stages.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of cutting tools and equipment, including sharpening blades, cleaning machines, and reporting any irregularities to the workshop manager.
  • Strictly follow the workshop’s safety and hygiene rules and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Mastery of manual and machine cutting techniques, including flat cutting, bias cutting, and other techniques specific to high-end garments.
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret garment patterns, including size grading.
  • Very good knowledge of textile materials, their properties, and their behavior during cutting, including natural and synthetic fabrics, knitwear, delicate materials, and technical fabrics.
  • Strong attention to detail, rigorous execution, and high quality standards.
  • Good organizational skills, autonomy, and ability to manage priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Team spirit and ability to collaborate effectively with workshop specialists, including prototype makers, pattern makers, and seamstresses and tailors.
