  • Draft and promote Chopard’s Health, Safety and Environment Policy, coordinate related activities across the company, and keep management informed of issues and progress on preventive and corrective action plans.
  • Publish periodic statistics on occupational and non-occupational accidents and incidents; prepare monthly and annual statistics on accidents and occupational diseases, analyse frequency and severity, propose improvement objectives and action plans, and submit periodic reports to the Convention Patronale based on its and SUVA’s criteria.
  • Monitor health, safety and environmental regulations and keep relevant parties informed of legislative developments.
  • Serve as the point of contact for authorities and official enforcement bodies, including SUVA, the Convention Patronale, labour inspection and ESTI; manage their mandates and findings, plan requested measures, and liaise with the Convention Patronale’s Health and Safety Service.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify and assess workplace hazards throughout the company, conduct risk analyses where needed, and involve internal staff or external specialists as appropriate, such as ergonomists, occupational physicians, Electrosuisse consultants, laser officers, forklift trainers and OIBT electricians.
  • Propose STOP (system, technical, organisational and personal) action plans to reduce workplace risks, prioritising hazards identified in Annex 1 of CFST Directive 6508, including chemicals, presses, lasers, gases, lone workers and forklifts; define personal protective equipment and storage requirements.
  • Validate legal compliance during project development and when purchasing new equipment or introducing new installations and layouts, including ergonomic considerations.
  • Review new hazardous substances and their use based on safety data sheets, and act as the chemical-products contact when required under OChim.
  • Establish and deliver health and safety training for new employees, prioritising emergency instructions for accidents, illness, fire and hazardous-substance spills; maintain training content and attendance records, identify roles requiring specific training or authorisation, and oversee initial and ongoing training for first-aid, firefighting, evacuation and forklift teams.
  • Provide relevant personnel with specialist health and safety documentation and communicate related instructions and information; use training to foster a workplace health and safety culture and propose prevention, detection and training programmes.
  • Help organise first aid and emergency medical assistance; draft or contribute to emergency procedures for fire and medical incidents across company sites and ensure their distribution.
  • Update fire-protection plans when premises are modified; ensure inventories, inspections and expiry dates are current for infirmary supplies, first-aid kits, fire installations, defibrillators, eyewash stations, oxygen cylinders and emergency-team equipment and PPE; ensure emergency teams can access current safety data sheets and that response and evacuation drills are conducted regularly.
  • Ensure specific requirements for vulnerable workers, including maternity protection and young workers, are considered.
  • Prepare and chair Health and Safety monitoring-group or committee meetings, circulate minutes and promote employee participation, including representation on the relevant group or committee.
  • Lead and promote prevention initiatives, such as flu and COVID vaccination campaigns, 10,000 Steps, Safety Day, cycling to work and seated massage.
  • Conduct internal system and process audits to support Responsible Jewellery Council recertification and continual improvement, covering chemical management, emergency response, compliance with measures and PPE use, and production and material-handling equipment; support managers in implementing preventive and corrective measures, procedures and training based on audit findings.
  • Handle organisational tasks including PPE distribution, receiving chairs and furniture, preparing workstation instruction sheets, simplifying safety data sheets and managing safety data sheets.
  • Work closely with the Administrative Director and site safety coordinators in Fleurier and other locations to maintain equivalent occupational health and safety standards across sites.
  • Build effective working relationships with all company departments and services, participate in the chemicals and environment committees, and work with the company occupational physician.
