Chopard is recruiting a Gemstone Setter Apprentice in Birkenfeld, starting 1 September 2027. The 3.5-year apprenticeship, including 1.5 years in a continuation apprenticeship, follows a 35-hour work week and includes training at the Goldsmith School with Watchmaking School in Pforzheim.
Role & Responsibilities
- Set gemstones of all types, sizes and mineral classifications into appropriate settings for jewellery pieces and semi-finished components, using a microscope at magnifications of up to 40x.
- Join stones to the material mechanically, without adhesive, using a range of handcraft techniques.
- Learn the fundamental skills of goldsmithing during the first year to develop an understanding of precious metals.
- Acquire basic knowledge of design planning using CAD and other production areas.
- Develop traditional and creative craftsmanship before progressing to modern series-production techniques at the end of the apprenticeship.
Qualifications
- At least a Hauptschulabschluss (lower secondary school-leaving certificate).
- Manual dexterity, technical understanding and spatial awareness.
- Patience, a delicate touch and a keen eye for detail.
