Chanel is hiring a Toxicologist (12‑month contract) in Pantin, France — responsible for cosmetic safety assessments and regulatory dossiers.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct toxicological hazard identification and quantitative risk assessments for cosmetic and personal-care ingredients and finished products.
  • Prepare and maintain safety dossiers and regulatory submissions in accordance with EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and SCCS expectations.
  • Interpret data from in vitro, in chemico and in vivo studies, and liaise with external contract research organizations and analytical laboratories.
  • Draft scientific reports, safety assessment conclusions and internal guidance documents for cross‑functional stakeholders (R&D, regulatory, quality, marketing).
  • Provide toxicology input to product development and claim substantiation, including exposure assessment and margin of safety calculations.
  • Monitor scientific literature, regulatory updates and guidance (SCCS, REACH, OECD) to ensure ongoing compliance and advise on reformulation or restriction risk.
  • Support incident reviews and post‑market surveillance related to safety signals, coordinating follow-up testing or corrective actions when required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, or a related biomedical science; PhD preferred.
  • Proven experience preparing safety assessments and regulatory dossiers for cosmetics or consumer health products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 and SCCS processes; familiarity with REACH and OECD test guidelines.
  • Excellent scientific writing skills and ability to communicate complex toxicological conclusions to non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting in vitro and toxicokinetic data.

Experience
