Chanel — Paris: Alternance Textile Sustainability & Product Description Intern starting Sept 2026. Work on eco‑responsible textile studies and product description tools.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, configuration and content of the product description tool (PIM/PDM), ensuring accurate textile and materials information.
  • Collect, validate and standardise data on fibres, finishes and production processes to support eco‑responsible material classification.
  • Support sustainability studies and supplier questionnaires, including input for lifecycle assessment (LCA) and eco‑labelling initiatives.
  • Collaborate with product development, sourcing, sustainability and IT teams to align material descriptions and metadata taxonomies.
  • Perform quality control, data cleansing and testing of the description tool; document processes and produce user guides.
  • Monitor industry standards and certifications (e.g., GRS, Oeko‑Tex, Higg Index) and translate findings into operational recommendations.
  • Prepare concise technical reports and presentations summarising findings and proposals for material substitution or improvement.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s programme in Textile Engineering, Sustainable Fashion, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
  • Practical knowledge of textile constructions, fibre properties and common finishing processes.
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as LCA methodologies, Higg Index, GRS or Oeko‑Tex is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage data: attention to detail, experience with Excel and data cleaning; exposure to PIM systems is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross‑functional, multilingual teams; professional command of French is highly recommended.
  • Organised, proactive and able to translate technical detail into clear summaries for non‑technical stakeholders.
