Role & Responsibilities
- Lead the technical architecture, delivery and evolution of Chanel's Buying/Merchandising solution, ensuring alignment with business strategy and commercial KPIs.
- Own technical roadmap and backlog in collaboration with Product Owners, Merchandisers and IT Program Management; translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Manage and mentor a cross-functional technical team of backend engineers, integration specialists and QA, setting quality standards and best practices.
- Design and implement robust integrations between the Buying solution and enterprise systems (ERP, inventory, POS, external vendor services).
- Ensure system reliability, performance, security and compliance by driving observability, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Coordinate with third‑party vendors and internal stakeholders for deployment, release planning and incident response.
- Perform hands-on design and code review, and contribute to core development when required to accelerate delivery.
Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering complex enterprise applications, ideally within retail, merchandising or purchasing domains.
- Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams and hands-on technical contribution to backend systems.
- Strong solution and system‑design skills, including integrations with ERP/legacy systems and data modelling for merchandise flows.
- Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, automated testing and observability.
- Excellent stakeholder management, ability to communicate technical trade-offs to business and executive audiences.
Skills
Experience
Typically 7+ years in software development with at least 2–4 years in a technical lead or architect role; prior exposure to retail, merchandising or purchasing systems is strongly preferred.
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent professional experience; advanced degree preferred.
Workplace
The successful candidate will be located in Paris, Île-de-France, France.
