Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical architecture, delivery and evolution of Chanel's Buying/Merchandising solution, ensuring alignment with business strategy and commercial KPIs.
  • Own technical roadmap and backlog in collaboration with Product Owners, Merchandisers and IT Program Management; translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Manage and mentor a cross-functional technical team of backend engineers, integration specialists and QA, setting quality standards and best practices.
  • Design and implement robust integrations between the Buying solution and enterprise systems (ERP, inventory, POS, external vendor services).
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, security and compliance by driving observability, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Coordinate with third‑party vendors and internal stakeholders for deployment, release planning and incident response.
  • Perform hands-on design and code review, and contribute to core development when required to accelerate delivery.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering complex enterprise applications, ideally within retail, merchandising or purchasing domains.
  • Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams and hands-on technical contribution to backend systems.
  • Strong solution and system‑design skills, including integrations with ERP/legacy systems and data modelling for merchandise flows.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, automated testing and observability.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, ability to communicate technical trade-offs to business and executive audiences.

Experience

Typically 7+ years in software development with at least 2–4 years in a technical lead or architect role; prior exposure to retail, merchandising or purchasing systems is strongly preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent professional experience; advanced degree preferred.
