Chanel is hiring a Tax Manager in Milan to lead Italian tax compliance, planning and audits for the group's Italian operations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of Italian tax compliance including corporate income tax returns, VAT filings, withholding taxes and tax-related statutory reporting.
- Develop and execute Italian tax planning strategies consistent with group policies and local law; advise business units on tax consequences of commercial, supply chain and operational initiatives.
- Manage tax accounting and provisions in accordance with applicable accounting standards and liaise with finance for monthly/quarterly reporting.
- Coordinate and supervise tax audits and disputes; act as primary contact with Italian tax authorities and external advisors.
- Collaborate with the global tax team and external counsel on cross-border tax, transfer pricing and treaty issues; support M&A, restructuring and projects with tax impact.
- Manage relationships with external advisers and service providers and oversee the work of local tax resources or contractors.
- Provide technical tax guidance to commercial, finance and legal stakeholders and deliver clear, pragmatic recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications
- Degree in Economics, Accounting, Law or equivalent; advanced degree or specialised tax master is advantageous.
- Professional tax or accounting qualification (e.g., Dottore Commercialista) preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Italian corporate tax legislation, VAT rules and transfer pricing principles.
- Strong technical ability in tax provisioning and application of accounting standards for tax (IFRS/local GAAP).
- Proven ability to interact with tax authorities and manage external advisors during audits and disputes.

Experience
Significant progressive experience in Italian tax roles — typically 5+ years within Big Four, a multinational corporate tax function, or a specialised tax advisory practice — including direct responsibility for tax compliance, audits and cross-border matters.
Education
University degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or Law. Professional tax qualification (Dottore Commercialista) or equivalent is preferred.
