Chanel Tailor Alterations Specialist, fixed-term contract (Jan–Sep 2027) at Cannes boutique. Luxury couture alterations role.
Role & Responsibilities
- Execute high-quality alterations and retouches on ready-to-wear garments whilst maintaining Chanel's aesthetic principles and collection identity
- Review alteration work orders and customer measurement sheets, input client data into Euveka systems, and interpret fitting pin placements to determine alteration specifications
- Plan sequential alteration steps based on workload (basting, pinning, assembly) and organize materials accordingly
- Lay out, assemble, and finish garments; place completed pieces on fitting mannequins (digital or traditional) to verify proper fit and alignment
- Conduct preliminary quality inspections; press and present finished garments to the senior Tailor for final quality control review
- Maintain workshop equipment and materials in optimal condition; monitor supply levels and alert management to replenishment needs
- Collaborate with colleagues during high-volume periods and guarantee traceability of all alteration work orders
- Participate in boutique meetings, brief sessions, and strategic task forces to align alterations operations with broader boutique objectives and brand roadmap
- Remain adaptable to evolving tools and methodologies as the house advances its technological capabilities and innovation standards
Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in couture and garment construction
- Demonstrated proficiency in both soft tailoring (flowing fabrics) and structured tailoring (structured jackets and suits)
- Passion for luxury fashion and the Chanel brand aesthetic
- Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and precision
- Strong collaborative spirit and interpersonal abilities; comfortable working within a structured team environment
- Proactive mindset with a genuine interest in evolving techniques, materials, and industry innovation
Skills
Experience
Significant practical experience in garment alteration and tailoring, including demonstrated competence in both soft and structured tailoring techniques.
Education
Formal training in couture, garment construction, or equivalent hands-on apprenticeship in professional alterations.
