Chanel seeks Senior Technical Developer – Denim in Florence, Italy. Lead denim innovation, supply chain coordination, and product development.
Role & Responsibilities
- Participate in material kickoffs and source fabric samples from suppliers meeting Chanel quality and compliance standards
- Manage core material inventory and curate the material showroom for the denim category
- Supervise collection material development progress and ensure timely delivery for fabric-to-sketch phases
- Escalate and resolve delivery alerts for collection materials through coordinated problem-solving
- Source new process suppliers and participate in trade fairs and innovation/transformation projects
- Reserve production materials and optimize material pricing while ensuring industrialization for manufacturing
- Manage material testing and technical specifications for production
- Contribute feasibility analysis and technical consultation on pattern design decisions
- Conduct risk analysis on materials and products
- Coordinate quality assurance handover and technical documentation
- Ensure seamless technical transition to manufacturers during prototyping and sampling phases
- Develop category expertise through competitive monitoring, supplier and manufacturer visits, and market research
- Monitor progress of finished material development at external suppliers
- Propose cost optimization across products and materials
- Animate product expertise across the supply chain and with manufacturers
Qualifications
- Specialized knowledge of denim products
- Prior experience in product development role
- Prior experience in a laundry or finishing laboratory environment
- Professional-level proficiency in English; French language knowledge a strong plus
- Project coordination and complex project management capabilities
- Proficiency with IT tools and reporting software (Excel, Outlook, PLM)
