Chanel seeks a Senior Retail Marketing Manager for its fashion division in Shanghai to lead retail event strategy, orchestration, and brand experience projects.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead annual retail event strategy and planning in close cooperation with global event teams and local fashion stakeholders, ensuring alignment with fashion objectives and delivery of client expectations
  • Orchestrate and coordinate retail event implementation across the market, collaborating with visual merchandising, merchandising, retail, client experience, training, and sales enablement teams
  • Define event strategy and roadmap for each initiative based on global strategy translations, local market insights, and brand storytelling aligned with the one-boutique-one-story framework
  • Manage retail projects coordination during key distribution moments including store openings, reopenings, and temporary or ephemeral projects to maximize business impact
  • Lead image project orchestration including replica shows, exhibitions, and special projects, serving as overall project coordinator with global and local teams
  • Establish systematic processes for team operations, compliance, and ethical conduct; ensure accountability and transparency across the organization
  • Manage annual and quarterly planning with landlord partners, coordinating marketing resources including trade displays, events, and activities
  • Cultivate and develop team managers and supervisors with strong capabilities; foster a culture of learning, listening, and sharing
  • Seek and maintain vendor relationships in catering, production, hospitality, and related areas while ensuring cost efficiency aligned with brand standards
  • Monitor key competitor event intelligence and insights (Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Dior) and prepare regular competitive reports
  • Control budget planning, spending oversight, cost optimization, and contingency management to ensure financial discipline and strategic alignment

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in retail marketing roles within luxury or high-end retail environments
  • Proven experience in event planning, orchestration, and execution at scale
  • Demonstrated expertise in team management, empowerment, and organizational leadership
  • Track record of successful project management in complex, matrix environments
  • Experience collaborating across multiple functional areas (visual merchandising, retail operations, communications, client experience)
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation capabilities
  • Experience with boutique development, store openings, or distribution evolution projects
