Chanel seeks a Senior Packaging Designer for its Watches & Jewelry division in Paris. Lead luxury packaging creation from concept to production.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead creative conception and packaging development from brief reception through production approval, presenting design concepts via sketches, 3D renderings, prototypes, and material research boards
- Pilot packaging projects end-to-end, ensuring alignment between creative intent, perceived quality, technical feasibility, and production standards while managing development objectives and project timelines
- Manage suppliers and specialized craftspeople (leather goods, cardboard, wood, metal, textiles) through creative and technical briefs, launch and review meetings, prototype validation, and final production approvals
- Serve as subject matter expert on packaging identity, image, perceived quality, and user experience throughout projects, balancing innovation with brand coherence and Chanel's heritage codes
- Conduct regular competitive and innovation surveillance across luxury packaging trends, materials, decorative techniques, sustainable finishes, and new manufacturing processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Supply, Marketing, and industrial partners to align creative ambitions with technical feasibility and maintain brand standards throughout development cycles
Qualifications
- Master's degree (Bac+5) in design, applied arts, or equivalent discipline
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in a similar packaging design or product development role, preferably within the luxury sector
- Demonstrable expertise in luxury packaging creation, product development, gifting concepts, and supplier management
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), 3D modeling software, ideally Rhino and Keyshot
- Ability to produce intention plans, prototypes, 3D models, and development documentation that faithfully translate concepts through to production
- Strong understanding of manufacturing constraints, development processes, and expertise in luxury packaging materials and craft techniques
- Pronounced creative and aesthetic sensibility with proven portfolio of executed luxury packaging projects
Skills
Experience
5-8 years of professional experience in packaging design, product development, or luxury goods design, with significant exposure to luxury packaging creation, supplier relations, and cross-functional project management. Experience in watches, jewelry, or premium beauty sectors is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously on complex, multi-stakeholder projects in regulated luxury environments.
Education
Master's degree (Bac+5) in design, applied arts, graphic design, product design, or equivalent qualification from a recognized design school or arts institution.
