Chanel seeks a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Intellectual Property for a fixed-term contract in Paris, managing global IP protection and enforcement.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute IP protection strategies for product launches, collections, and creative initiatives, including prior art research, product clearance, and risk management
  • Manage, optimize, and enhance the registered and unregistered IP portfolio, including copyrights, trademarks, domain names, and design rights across multiple territories
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute IP-related contracts including coexistence agreements, licenses, assignments, and third-party vendor agreements
  • Conduct pre-litigation and administrative proceedings in trademark opposition, cancellation, and invalidation procedures; build and maintain evidence files for proof of use and reputation claims
  • Lead pre-litigation and judicial defense in disputes related to creation and IP rights, develop defense strategies, and manage third-party infringement claims
  • Participate in cross-functional projects within the Legal Department collaborating with regional and global teams

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of professional experience in intellectual property at a law firm or in-house at a multinational company
  • Bilingual written and oral proficiency in English
  • Deep expertise in IP law across multiple jurisdictions and dispute resolution mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of business strategy, international dimensions, and geopolitical context affecting IP matters
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-stakes dossiers in a matrix and international environment
