Chanel Shanghai | Senior Forecasting and Planning Manager leading demand forecasting and merchandise planning for China omni-channel operations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead China demand forecasting and merchandise planning process, ensuring forecast accuracy, planning discipline and timely business response
- Translate sales trends, campaign plans, channel dynamics and stock status into actionable forecast recommendations to support business adjustment
- Optimize forecasting process and governance to align with commercial calendar, product launches and supply planning timelines
- Drive omni-channel forecast accuracy across offline retail, online channels (Tmall, .COM) and Travel Retail
- Work closely with Marketing, Retail, Finance, Supply Chain and Regional/Global teams to validate forecast assumptions and business needs
- Identify risks and opportunities in demand, stock and launch performance, proactively recommending adjustments to support sustainable business delivery
- Manage and lead a team of three forecasting specialists, providing coaching and accountability for high-quality delivery
- Monitor forecast accuracy, identify key variances and enable timely business adjustment
- Calibrate with Marketing and Retail on SPM forecasts and supply needs for new openings, campaigns and podium activations
- Manage inventory validation, PO review, goods-in-transit monitoring and quarterly allowance preparation
- Convert campaign performance, retail feedback and market signals into practical recommendations for forecast and stock adjustment
- Support cross-functional business reviews with clear forecast assumptions, risks and action proposals
- Provide data-driven input for upstream communication with Regional and Global teams on China demand and supply needs
Qualifications
- University degree or above
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in demand forecasting, merchandise planning, supply planning or commercial planning in Luxury, Beauty or FMCG industry
- Minimum 5+ years of managerial experience in a multinational environment
- Familiarity with cosmetics and/or retail industry business operation procedures
- Strong data analysis and implementation skills
- Demonstrated sensitivity to luxury branding and retail operational needs
- Strong business acumen with understanding of commercial priorities, retail dynamics and product lifecycle
- Solid forecasting and merchandise planning capability
- Strong numerical sensitivity and modelling capability
- Ability to generate actionable insights and practical recommendations
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Strong people leadership and team management capability with ability to coach and develop team members
- Detail-oriented, organized and rigorous with high ownership for data quality
- Agile and resilient in changing business environment

Experience
At least 10 years of relevant experience in demand forecasting, merchandise planning, supply planning or commercial planning in the Luxury, Beauty or FMCG sectors, with a minimum of 5+ years in a managerial capacity within a multinational environment. Proven expertise in cosmetics and/or retail industry operations, with demonstrated success in data-driven business planning and cross-functional team leadership.
