Chanel — Paris: Alternance Purchasing Assistant (metal findings & leathers), starting Sept 2026. Apprenticeship in buying/sourcing for luxury accessories.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the buying team for metal hardware and leather components across seasonal collections, from RFQ to order closure.
  • Manage purchase orders and ensure accurate data entry and lifecycle tracking in procurement systems and PLM.
  • Follow up with suppliers on lead times, order acknowledgements, deliveries and corrective actions to respect production schedules.
  • Coordinate sampling cycles and quality inspections with development, quality control and production teams.
  • Analyse cost proposals, prepare comparison sheets and contribute to negotiation preparation and supplier selection.
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing documentation (specifications, technical sheets, contracts) and participate in compliance checks.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (product development, supply chain, quality, logistics) to resolve sourcing and delivery issues.
  • Assist in supplier performance monitoring and periodic reporting to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Registered in an alternance/apprenticeship program (Bachelor or Master) in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Fashion Business, Industrial Management or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable interest in luxury goods, materials and components for leather goods and accessories.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Good commercial sense with basic knowledge of costing and negotiation principles.
  • Effective communicator, able to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Fluency in French and professional proficiency in English (preferred).

SAP Microsoft Excel (advanced — pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH) PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)

Experience

Previous internship(s) or work experience in purchasing, sourcing or supply-chain functions within fashion, luxury leather goods or accessories is strongly preferred; 0–2 years of relevant experience acceptable for an alternance role.

Education

Enrolment in a recognised alternance/apprenticeship pathway (Bachelor’s or Master’s level) in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Fashion Business, Materials Science or a related discipline.
