Chanel is hiring a Principal Architect - Intelligent Automation in London to lead enterprise automation strategy and architecture.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and evangelise the enterprise intelligent automation strategy and target architecture, aligning automation initiatives with business priorities and technical roadmaps.
- Design scalable, secure automation solutions across RPA, AI/ML, orchestration and integration layers to automate end-to-end business processes.
- Lead architecture design for automation platforms, integration patterns (APIs, event-driven, message queues) and cloud-native deployments.
- Own non-functional requirements: resilience, scalability, security, observability and operational runbooks for automation at scale.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, enterprise architects and IT delivery teams to convert use cases into production-ready solutions.
- Govern and standardise automation best practices, reusable components, design patterns, code repositories and CI/CD pipelines.
- Mentor engineers and architects; build capability through review, coaching and technical leadership across cross-functional teams.
- Evaluate and recommend commercial automation platforms, tooling and vendors; lead proof-of-concept evaluations and vendor selection.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven track record of designing and delivering enterprise-scale intelligent automation programmes.
- Experience with architecture governance and enterprise integration patterns, including cloud deployments.
- Professional certifications desirable (e.g., TOGAF, UiPath/Blue Prism/Automation Anywhere certifications, cloud architect certifications).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with experience influencing senior business and IT leaders.

Extensive enterprise IT experience, typically 8+ years, with significant hands-on and leadership experience (commonly 4+ years) in intelligent automation, RPA, or automation architecture delivering production-grade solutions across several business domains.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent; advanced technical or management degrees are advantageous.
