The Plant Extract Fermentation Process Optimization Intern will study and optimize fermentation processes for natural extracts, helping develop and characterize plant-derived ingredients at laboratory scale. The role is based in Pantin and is a six-month internship beginning in February 2027.
Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct a literature review on fermentation processes applied to natural extracts and the associated transformation mechanisms.
- Contribute to the development of plant-derived extracts and conduct laboratory-scale trials.
- Assess the influence of different process parameters on fermentation and monitor trials analytically using appropriate characterization techniques, including physicochemical measurements, specific assays, and chromatographic analyses.
- Analyze results, prepare trial reports, and present the conclusions of completed studies.
- Support the smooth operation of the laboratory by following safety procedures, maintaining equipment, and managing consumables.
Qualifications
- Master’s-level education (Bac +5) in bioprocesses, biotechnology, biological engineering, biochemistry, or an equivalent scientific field.
- Strong interest in natural products, plants, and phytochemistry.
- Previous laboratory experience in fermentation, microbiology, biotechnology, or processes applied to natural products is an advantage.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques such as spectrophotometry, chromatography, and physicochemical assays is an advantage.
- Curiosity, rigor, and autonomy, with an appreciation for experimental work and data analysis.
- Strong team spirit, with organizational, synthesis, and scientific-results communication skills.
