Chanel seeks an experienced Patternmaker for luxury leather goods development at Verneuil-en-Halatte. Lead prototype innovation and sample production for iconic collections.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop and prototype luxury leather goods and small leather articles from creative briefs, sketches, and mood boards through to final sample presentation
  • Translate three-dimensional volume and form requirements into technically feasible construction methods and manufacturing specifications
  • Identify and propose technical alternatives to resolve quality, construction, and cost challenges whilst maintaining aesthetic integrity
  • Integrate component development imperatives—timelines, material compatibility, functional requirements, and technical risk mitigation—and propose optimal solutions
  • Drive innovation in assembly techniques, functional improvements, and material optimization to enhance both design and production efficiency
  • Guarantee repeatability of proposed designs across production and validate technical feasibility with manufacturing partners
  • Compile and maintain complete product definition data including Bill of Materials entries in ERP, material and accessory color concordance, CAD surface definitions, and PLM development tracking
  • Coordinate and manage showroom sample and reference piece production scheduling, allocating resources and monitoring timelines

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bac +2/3 qualification in Fashion and Leather Goods Crafts, or Pattern Design Specialisation
  • 5–7 years of demonstrated experience in luxury product development and prototype engineering
  • Mastery of all production stages for leather goods and luxury apparel manufacturing
  • Proven ability to interpret and execute design sketches and creative direction with technical precision
  • Proficiency with CAD software and technical data management systems
  • Strong collaborative and teamwork capabilities with cross-functional design, development, and manufacturing teams
  • Creative mindset with capacity for continuous improvement and innovative problem-solving
  • Demonstrated reactivity and adaptability to rapid design modifications and seasonal collection demands
