Chanel seeks a Packaging Materials Validation Engineer (fixed-term) in Pantin — lead packaging material qualification for beauty and fragrance.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead homologation and qualification activities for packaging materials (film, plastics, paperboard, glass, closures) used across beauty and fragrance lines.
- Define and execute test plans, ageing protocols and acceptance criteria in collaboration with internal laboratories and external test houses.
- Produce and maintain technical specifications, qualification dossiers and regulatory documentation for new and revised packaging substrates.
- Coordinate supplier qualification, sampling, non-conformance investigations and corrective actions (CAPA).
- Interface with R&D, Quality, Procurement, Packaging Development and Regulatory Affairs to ensure materials meet functional, aesthetic and compliance requirements.
- Manage project timelines and approval gates for packaging launches and industrial changes.
- Analyse failure modes and lead root-cause investigations, proposing mitigation and continual improvement measures.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree in Materials Science, Packaging, Chemical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- Solid knowledge of packaging materials and testing methodologies relevant to luxury cosmetics and fragrances.
- Experience with supplier qualification and quality systems; familiarity with CAPA and non-conformance processes.
- Strong technical writing skills for preparation of specifications, test reports and qualification dossiers.
- Fluent professional-level French; business-level English preferred.

Approximately 3+ years of hands-on experience in packaging/materials qualification, ideally within cosmetics, fragrance or luxury goods manufacturing environments.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Packaging, Chemical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
