Chanel seeks a Packaging Materials Homologation Engineer in Pantin — permanent role overseeing packaging material approval, testing and regulatory compliance.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the homologation and qualification program for packaging materials, defining acceptance criteria and test plans against technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Specify, coordinate and interpret laboratory and supplier testing (physical, chemical and ageing tests) to validate material performance and compatibility with products.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., REACH, CLP, food‑contact where relevant) and internal quality standards; prepare and maintain technical dossiers and declarations.
  • Manage supplier qualification and approval activities, including review of certificates, audit support and corrective action follow‑up.
  • Collaborate with packaging development, R&D, procurement, industrialization and quality teams to integrate homologation inputs into product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain traceable documentation and change control for approved materials; support troubleshooting and non‑conformity investigations related to packaging materials.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent in Materials Science, Packaging, Polymer Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (Master's/engineering diploma preferred).
  • Solid knowledge of packaging materials (paper, board, plastics, glass, metals) and their behaviour in storage, transport and end‑use conditions.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks impacting materials and packaging (REACH, CLP, food contact regulations where applicable).
  • Proven ability to write and interpret test protocols, technical specifications and homologation dossiers.
  • Strong organisational skills and demonstrated capability to drive cross‑functional projects with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
