Chanel — Metal Hardware Intern in Florence (Firenze Osmannoro). Internship supporting prototyping and metalwork for accessory hardware.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of metal components for accessories (bag fittings, clasps, chains, buckles) from concept through small‑scale prototyping.
- Assist skilled bench jewellers and technicians with hands‑on fabrication: sawing, filing, soldering, forming and finishing of metal parts.
- Prepare and maintain workshop tooling, fixtures and prototypes; ensure impeccable organisation and cleanliness of the atelier.
- Carry out basic quality checks and dimensional verification against technical drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate with design, product and sourcing teams to communicate prototype progress and iterate on component details.
- Document processes and prototype iterations; contribute to sample photography and portfolio updates for internal review.
- Participate in surface‑treatment and finishing operations (buffing, plating follow‑up, polishing) under supervision.
- Observe health & safety and materials handling protocols in the metals workshop environment.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a programme in jewellery-making, metalsmithing, industrial design, materials engineering or similar.
- Demonstrable manual dexterity and basic bench skills (sawing, filing, soldering, finishing) gained through coursework, workshops or prior internships.
- Portfolio or photo documentation of metalwork, prototypes or small-scale fabrication projects.
- Strong attention to detail, patience for fine finishing and commitment to high standards of craftsmanship.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multi‑disciplinary teams and respond constructively to technical feedback.
- Willingness to learn atelier methods and adhere to safety and quality procedures.

Experience
Student or recent graduate with hands‑on workshop experience, internships or coursework in jewellery, metalwork or industrial prototyping; prior exposure to luxury accessories or small‑parts manufacturing is advantageous but not required.
Education
Vocational diploma, technical certificate or degree in jewellery-making, metalsmithing, industrial design, materials engineering, or related discipline; current students are welcome to apply.
