Chanel seeks a Manager, Owned Retail Analytics & Insights in New York to lead retail analytics and performance excellence across owned boutiques.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end analytics and insight programmes for Chanel-owned retail stores, translating transactional and traffic data into actionable recommendations to improve sales, margin and client experience.
- Design, maintain and evolve KPI frameworks and executive dashboards to monitor store, region and portfolio performance, ensuring timely distribution of insights to retail leadership.
- Partner cross-functionally with Retail Operations, Merchandising, CRM, Visual Merchandising and Finance to align analytical priorities, business rules and measurement methodologies.
- Own root-cause analyses for under- and over-performing locations, including assortment, pricing, staffing, conversion and clienteling impacts; propose and track remediation plans.
- Develop forecasting and scenario models to support capacity planning, promotional and stock allocation decisions for the owned retail estate.
- Manage A/B and controlled experiments in-store and on omnichannel initiatives; define test hypotheses, track outcomes and synthesise learnings into roll-out plans.
- Lead, mentor and develop a small team of analysts or act as the primary analytics contact, setting standards for data quality, reproducibility and analytical rigour.
- Present concise, executive-level insights and recommendations to senior leadership, driving decisions that materially improve store performance and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Data Science or a related quantitative discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in retail analytics, commercial insights or business intelligence, with demonstrable impact on store or portfolio performance—luxury retail experience preferred.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional analytics projects and influence senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
- Strong statistical reasoning and experience designing experiments or A/B tests in a commercial context.
- Experience managing or mentoring analysts and establishing best-practice analytics workflows.
Skills
Experience
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in retail or commercial analytics with progressive responsibility; experience within luxury or premium retail is strongly preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Data Science or a related field; master’s degree or relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.
