Chanel is hiring a Makeup Formulation Development Technician in Pantin — join the R&D makeup team to develop prestige cosmetics.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support formulation development for makeup products by preparing prototypes, compounding samples and iterating formulas according to R&D briefs.
- Perform stability, compatibility and aging studies; record and interpret analytical and sensory data to inform formulation decisions.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and bench equipment, ensuring calibration, cleanliness and compliance with safety protocols.
- Document experimental procedures and results in laboratory notebooks and product dossiers, supporting regulatory and quality submissions.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners including colorists, packaging engineers, regulatory affairs, safety assessment and production to enable scale‑up and industrialisation.
- Participate in raw material evaluation, supplier trials and specification control to ensure ingredient performance and supply continuity.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in lab processes, formulation efficiency and reproducibility.
Qualifications
- Technical diploma or degree in chemistry, cosmetic science, chemical engineering or equivalent (BTS/DUT, Licence Professionnelle or Bachelor's preferred).
- Practical experience in cosmetic formulation or laboratory environments, ideally with makeup product categories (powders, creams, liquids).
- Solid understanding of cosmetics regulation and quality frameworks, including Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO 22716 principles.
- Strong laboratory discipline with excellent documentation skills and familiarity with stability and compatibility testing protocols.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while managing hands‑on bench work with autonomy and precision.
Skills
Experience
1–3 years of hands‑on experience in cosmetic formulation or as a laboratory technician within makeup or personal care product development. Experience with powder, cream and liquid makeup systems is advantageous.
Education
BTS/DUT in Chemistry or Cosmetics, Licence Professionnelle, or Bachelor's degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
