Chanel Legal Counsel - Compliance & Regulatory in Seoul, Korea. Lead compliance, regulatory, and dispute management for CHANEL Korea.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop, localize, and enhance compliance policies and controls to meet Korean legal requirements
- Increase employee compliance awareness through training and communication on anti-corruption, fair trade, workplace safety, data privacy, and conduct standards
- Implement global compliance initiatives consistent with Korean regulatory requirements
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and brief stakeholders on significant developments
- Provide proactive legal advice to support business operations and maintain regulatory compliance
- Handle government and regulator inquiries, investigations, and information requests
- Advise on regulatory strategy, risk mitigation, and enforcement preparedness
- Manage consumer protection matters, product complaints, and administrative enforcement actions
- Coordinate dispute resolution, claims management, and contentious matters involving customers, employees, partners, and third parties
- Coordinate litigation strategy with external counsel aligned with Chanel's priorities
- Respond to and manage high-risk incidents and urgent legal matters with balanced guidance
- Manage contracts and general legal affairs
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer licensed to practice in Korea
- Minimum 4 years' post-qualification legal experience with law firm and/or in-house counsel role
- Demonstrated experience in compliance, regulatory investigations, enforcement matters, litigation, consumer disputes, or administrative proceedings
- Expertise or strong familiarity with competition law, labor/employment law, workplace safety, or consumer protection
- Fluent in both English and Korean, written and spoken
Skills
Experience
Minimum 4 years' post-qualification legal experience (PQE) with demonstrated expertise in law firm practice, in-house legal counsel, or a combination thereof. Ideally possess experience in at least one of the following: compliance program management, regulatory investigations, enforcement matters, criminal or civil litigation, consumer disputes, or administrative proceedings. Familiarity with competition law, labor and employment issues, workplace safety, or consumer protection is strongly advantageous.
Education
Juris Doctor, Bachelor of Laws, or equivalent legal qualification. Admission to the Korean bar is mandatory.
