Role & Responsibilities
- Execute and support global, regional, and local brand protection and business priorities in coordination with senior legal leadership
- Develop and strategize comprehensive anti-counterfeit, anti-diversion, and brand protection programs including raids, litigations, investigations, and enforcement actions
- Conduct legal research and analysis on Korean intellectual property laws, case precedents, and regulatory developments to inform enforcement strategies and brand protection decisions
- Negotiate, review, and draft intellectual property and brand protection contract terms in commercial agreements covering distribution, licensing, and e-commerce arrangements
- Review global intellectual property and brand protection initiatives against Korean legal requirements to ensure full compliance
- Manage and oversee intellectual property litigation matters, including instructing, coordinating, and supervising external counsel
- Draft and issue cease and desist letters, demand letters, and formal legal correspondence to address infringement matters
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging laws, regulations, policies, brand protection trends, and enforcement best practices; develop agile counter-strategies and lobbying frameworks
- Cultivate and manage relationships with enforcement authorities, digital platforms, internal stakeholders, and external service providers
- Build and advance the brand protection culture through training and education of internal teams and external partners on intellectual property rights protection
- Support and advise business stakeholders to manage expectations and align brand protection efforts with commercial interests
- Engage with government and enforcement authorities on policy advocacy to advance Chanel's brand protection agenda
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Korea or another recognized jurisdiction
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in intellectual property law
- Extensive legal knowledge and practical experience in intellectual property prosecution, litigation, and enforcement, with particular expertise in trademark, copyright, anti-unfair competition, and design patent protection
- Demonstrated experience in anti-counterfeiting strategies, intellectual property enforcement, and complex infringement matters gained from top-tier international law firms or in-house luxury retail positions
- Strong background in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including distribution, licensing, and e-commerce contracts
- Fluency in Korean and English, both written and spoken
- Graduation from a top-tier university with strong academic credentials
Skills
Experience
Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience as a qualified lawyer, with extensive background in complex intellectual property prosecution, litigation, and enforcement work. Proven track record in anti-counterfeiting strategies and enforcement of intellectual property rights, gained preferably from top-tier international law firms and the luxury retail sector. Strong demonstrated experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation, particularly for distribution, licensing, and e-commerce agreements.
Education
Law degree qualification and admission as a qualified lawyer in Korea or another recognized jurisdiction; graduation from a top-tier university with strong academic achievements.
