Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process and final quality inspections of leather goods to ensure compliance with Chanel standards and specifications
  • Identify, classify and document material and manufacturing defects (leather flaws, stitching, hardware, edges, finishes) and drive root-cause analysis
  • Develop and maintain inspection criteria, sampling plans (AQL) and acceptance reports for production lines and suppliers
  • Coordinate corrective actions with production teams, suppliers and R&D to eliminate recurring defects and improve first-pass yield
  • Conduct supplier quality assessments and on-site audits; monitor supplier performance metrics and approve remediation plans
  • Validate colour, finish and dimensional tolerances; perform or supervise physical tests where required (abrasion, tensile, colourfastness)
  • Maintain detailed quality records, non-conformance reports and trend analyses to inform continuous improvement initiatives
  • Train production staff and inspectors on Chanel quality requirements, inspection techniques and defect prevention practices

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or degree in leather technology, materials science, industrial engineering or equivalent vocational qualification
  • Deep knowledge of leather materials, tanning processes, finishes and common hide defects
  • Experience with quality methodologies: sampling plans (AQL), root-cause analysis and corrective action processes
  • Ability to read technical drawings and product specifications for accessories and small leather goods
  • Strong attention to detail and manual inspection capability for fine luxury products
  • Fluent Italian; working knowledge of English preferred (if explicitly required by hiring location, language skills will be confirmed during hiring)
