Chanel seeks an Intellectual Property Paralegal in Geneva to support trademark, patent, and copyright protection and enforcement across global markets.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support IP counsel in the preparation and filing of trademark, patent, and design applications across key markets
- Conduct comprehensive IP research and competitive analysis to identify infringement and counterfeiting threats
- Maintain and update the company's IP portfolio records, ensuring timely renewals and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Draft and review IP-related legal documents, including licensing agreements, assignment agreements, and cease-and-desist letters
- Coordinate with external IP firms and government offices regarding registration, opposition, and enforcement proceedings
- Monitor and report on emerging IP trends and potential legal risks affecting the brand
- Support litigation efforts by organizing case documentation and assisting in evidence gathering for counterfeiting and infringement cases
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in law, business, or related field; paralegal certification preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in intellectual property law or a related legal function
- Strong knowledge of trademark, patent, copyright, and design protection principles
- Familiarity with IP management software and databases
- Excellent drafting and written communication skills
- Ability to manage complex documentation and track multiple jurisdictions simultaneously
Skills
Experience
Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in intellectual property law, corporate legal services, or brand protection. Experience supporting trademark registrations, patent applications, or enforcement actions is essential. Familiarity with luxury, fashion, or consumer goods brands is advantageous but not required.
Education
Bachelor's degree in law, business administration, or a related discipline. Paralegal certification or advanced legal education is preferred.
