Chanel — Paris: General Accounting & Fixed Assets Manager role in Paris overseeing general ledger and fixed asset accounting.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the general ledger and fixed asset accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  • Manage the full fixed asset lifecycle — acquisitions, capitalization, depreciation, transfers, revaluations and disposals — and maintain asset registers and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accounting treatments comply with French GAAP and group reporting standards; prepare documentation required for IFRS consolidation where applicable.
  • Coordinate and support external and internal audits relating to general ledger and fixed assets; provide schedules, reconciliations and audit evidence.
  • Own process improvements and internal controls for fixed assets and general accounting, including ERP configurations and automation opportunities.
  • Supervise, coach and develop a small team of accounting professionals; allocate tasks and monitor performance and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners (tax, treasury, procurement, property, IT and stores) to ensure alignment on capitalization policies and asset-related transactions.
  • Prepare management reporting and ad hoc analyses for Finance leadership, including balance sheet movements and variance explanations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent (e.g., DCG/DSCG or Master’s in Accounting/Finance) or comparable professional qualification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of general ledger accounting and fixed asset accounting policies and controls.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply French GAAP and to prepare documentation supporting IFRS consolidation processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people‑management skills, with experience overseeing a small operational accounting team.
  • High level of analytical rigour, attention to detail and reliable deadline management in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across finance, operational and external audit stakeholders.

Experience
