The Fragrance and Beauty Boutique Director leads CHANEL’s Glendale boutique, developing the team and driving client experience, sales, brand standards and operational performance. The role requires at least seven years of leadership experience, an in-store presence and schedule flexibility for late nights, weekends and some holidays; the anticipated annual base salary is $92,400–$125,700, with variable pay and benefits.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the boutique’s overall operations and serve as the ultimate decision-maker.
  • Develop boutique staff through succession planning, career development, individual development plans and annual reviews; coach the team on product, service and artistry expertise.
  • Lead recruitment and retention for all team positions, including freelancers, and ensure an effective onboarding experience for new hires.
  • Address employee issues professionally in accordance with CHANEL standards, policies and procedures, partnering with HR as needed.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive working environment that encourages mutual respect and collaboration and is free from discrimination and harassment.
  • Lead by example on the sales floor, engage with internal and external audiences, and ensure a welcoming boutique environment.
  • Apply an omnichannel approach, directing sales to fashion boutiques and CHANEL.com where appropriate; build relationships with fashion boutique personnel and external mall or center vendors.
  • Deliver a memorable in-store and after-sales experience at every client touchpoint; build personalized client relationships, resolve client situations in line with company philosophy and standards, and meet corporate voice-of-client standards.
  • Attend seasonal seminars led by Education Executives and corporate meetings.
  • Represent the brand and uphold image-code and service-behavior expectations; maintain hygiene and visual merchandising standards, and foster service, expertise, cleanliness, organization and attention to detail.
  • Achieve sales objectives through products, services and events; set goals for sales, KPIs, clienteling, service behaviors and CRM.
  • Use client data to retain, recruit and grow returning clientele; develop initiatives and locally relevant events that expand the client base, sales and market presence.
  • Monitor industry, local-market and competitive trends; build community relationships to identify and execute strategic growth opportunities.
  • Manage merchandise stock levels and escalate issues to corporate; oversee operational tasks with the Assistant Manager.
  • Submit timely weekly recaps of store performance and events; monitor expenses, including personnel costs, maintain operating budgets and work to reduce costs.
  • Oversee loss prevention, risk management, physical security, cash controls, inventory management, inter-store communication and loss-prevention audits.
  • Optimize staff schedules with the Assistant Manager to ensure floor coverage, strong customer service and sales performance; coordinate schedule requests, paid time off, holidays, overtime and leave processing with HR and Payroll.
