Chanel in Paris seeks a Fixed Assets Assistant (Alternance) to support corporate asset accounting, month-end close and reconciliations.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the fixed assets register, ensuring accurate capitalization, classification and tagging of assets.
  • Calculate and post monthly depreciation entries and adjustments in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Perform periodic reconciliations between the fixed assets ledger and the general ledger; investigate and resolve variances.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities related to property, plant & equipment and produce supporting schedules.
  • Coordinate asset movements, transfers, disposals and retirements; prepare documentation and ensure proper approval workflows.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and fixed asset audits; liaise with internal teams and external auditors to provide evidence and explanations.
  • Contribute to process improvements and the strengthening of internal controls over fixed assets.
  • Prepare routine management reports and ad hoc analyses to support the corporate finance team.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting, Finance, or Business (alternance/apprenticeship stream).
  • Solid foundational knowledge of accounting principles, particularly fixed assets accounting and depreciation.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and attention to numerical detail.
  • Organized, methodical approach with the ability to manage deadlines during month-end close.
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential financial information.
  • Previous internship experience in accounting or corporate finance is a plus.
