Chanel seeks a Finance Manager — Financial & Corporate Taxation Accounting in London to lead corporate tax, IFRS tax accounting and compliance for the UK entity.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end corporate tax function for the UK entity, including corporate income tax, VAT and indirect tax compliance, returns and payments.
  • Prepare, review and defend tax provisions and tax footnote disclosures in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP; ensure accurate integration into month-end and year-end financial close.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and local tax authorities on audits, rulings, enquiries and complex tax positions; manage documentation and responses.
  • Develop and execute tax strategies and optimisation initiatives tied to group structure, transfer pricing implications and cross-border transactions.
  • Provide technical tax support for projects including M&A, new retail openings, supply-chain changes and intercompany restructurings.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, policies and procedures for tax accounting and compliance; partner with internal audit and finance teams.
  • Line-manage and mentor junior tax/accounting staff; allocate workload and oversee deliverables to meet statutory deadlines.
  • Act as the primary tax contact for senior finance stakeholders and support reporting to regional or group finance leadership.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of corporate tax, VAT/indirect taxes, transfer pricing and tax accounting under IFRS.
  • Proven ability to manage tax compliance, tax provisions and audits within a multinational corporate environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience liaising with external advisors and tax authorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people-management capability with an aptitude for coaching and developing teams.

Experience

Typically 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax and financial accounting, preferably gained within a Big Four firm or in-house at a multinational consumer luxury or retail company, with demonstrable exposure to cross-border tax matters and statutory reporting.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) strongly preferred.
