Fashion Tailor position at Chanel in Mexico City. Deliver luxury alterations and repairs for Ready-to-Wear collections.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality alterations and repairs on luxury Ready-to-Wear garments—including jackets, trousers, skirts and dresses—while preserving original design, silhouette and creative vision
  • Execute alterations on both tailored and soft construction pieces with advanced craftsmanship, precision and discretion
  • Review alteration requests and technical specifications to understand client needs, then organize workload according to garment construction and agreed delivery timelines
  • Dismantle, alter, reconstruct and finish garments to Chanel quality standards, including replacement of zippers, buttons, linings, pockets and trims as required
  • Conduct rigorous quality inspections before returning garments to ensure impeccable finishing, functionality and presentation
  • Support fitting sessions alongside Fashion Advisors or fitting specialists to ensure alterations deliver expected fit and comfort
  • Maintain accurate alteration documentation and ensure all requests are properly recorded and tracked
  • Prioritize workload effectively to meet service level agreements and support peak business activity periods
  • Ensure all sewing machines, equipment and tools are properly maintained; report maintenance requirements when necessary
  • Maintain an organized, clean and safe alteration workspace in accordance with boutique standards
  • Collaborate with Boutique Management, Fashion Advisors and the broader team; participate in product trainings and Ready-to-Wear briefings
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with colleagues to promote continuous learning and support fellow Tailors during high-workload periods

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a Tailor
  • Proven expertise performing alterations on luxury Ready-to-Wear garments
  • Technical education in Tailoring, Fashion Design, Garment Construction or equivalent professional apprenticeship
  • Advanced knowledge of garment construction, tailoring techniques and couture finishing
  • Strong understanding of woven fabrics, delicate materials and garment structure
  • Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and tailoring equipment
  • Client-centric mindset with commitment to excellence and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, planning and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated capacity for teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement

Experience

Technical education in Tailoring, Fashion Design, Garment Construction or a related discipline, or equivalent professional apprenticeship.
