Role & Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision and architecture for the data platform, ensuring scalability, reliability and security across analytical and operational use cases.
- Design, build and optimise robust ETL/ELT pipelines and data models to support reporting, analytics, machine learning and product teams.
- Lead and mentor a small team of data engineers; drive best practices for code quality, testing, CI/CD and observability.
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, BI teams and business stakeholders to translate requirements into pragmatic technical solutions and measurable outcomes.
- Define and enforce data governance, lineage and quality processes in partnership with data stewardship and privacy teams.
- Evaluate and introduce appropriate cloud services, frameworks and tooling to reduce technical debt and accelerate delivery.
- Troubleshoot platform incidents, perform capacity planning and implement monitoring and alerting to guarantee SLAs.
Qualifications
- Proven technical leadership experience in data engineering or platform engineering roles.
- Solid track record designing and operating production data platforms at scale.
- Strong programming proficiency and system design capability.
- Experience mentoring engineers and driving engineering best practices across teams.
- Comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment.

Experience
Typically 5+ years in data engineering, with at least 2 years in a technical lead or senior engineering role responsible for platform design and delivery.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or equivalent practical experience.
