Chanel seeks a Data Platform and Engineering Manager in Singapore to lead data pipeline development, semantic modelling and BI delivery supporting analytics and AI-enabled products.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain reliable data ingestion pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to ingest data from division, function and enterprise systems into the data platform
- Translate business data requirements into structured, reusable and well-documented data models, semantic layers and curated datasets
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and analytical views to support division and function decision-making using Power BI
- Implement data quality checks, reconciliation logic and monitoring across ingestion, transformation and modelling layers
- Partner with Data Product, Stewardship, Analytics and Data Science teams to understand downstream consumption needs and ensure data structures support both BI and AI use cases
- Optimize dashboard and report performance, including data model structure, query logic, refresh design and visual loading times
- Maintain clear documentation on data lineage, transformation logic, metric definitions, model dependencies and known limitations
- Act as technical partner to business-facing data roles, assessing feasibility, effort and dependencies for new data product requirements
- Coordinate with global and regional data platform teams to ensure local needs align with enterprise architecture standards
Qualifications
- Solid experience designing, building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows and transformation processes in modern data environments
- Strong understanding of data modelling principles, dimensional modelling, data marts, semantic layers and reusable data structures
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL, relational databases and cloud data platforms (Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks preferred)
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining dashboards and reports in Power BI, with ability to design clear layouts, navigation, filters and drill-downs
- Ability to implement data quality controls, reconciliation checks and documentation practices that improve trust and reduce operational risk
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with business stakeholders, Data Product, Data Stewardship, IT, BI, analytics and data science teams
- Ability to translate business and data product requirements into clear technical specifications while assessing feasibility and dependencies
Skills
Experience
7+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform architecture, or analytics engineering roles, with demonstrated expertise in pipeline development, data modelling and BI delivery. Proven track record of designing scalable, reusable data solutions that support both business intelligence and downstream analytics needs. Experience translating technical requirements into business-ready data products and collaborating across cross-functional teams to deliver data solutions.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related quantitative field. Equivalent professional experience and demonstrated expertise in data engineering and data platform development may be considered.
