Chanel is seeking a Data Intelligence Manager in Shanghai to strengthen data governance, reporting, market and competitor intelligence, and business and client performance analysis. The role supports the Senior Manager with decision-ready insights and recommendations across business planning and cross-functional decisions. Full-time.
Role & Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Manager in strengthening data definitions, quality controls, governance standards and compliance practices across the division.
- Maintain integrated data assets with internal and external partners; extract and clean data from multiple sources, prepare analysis-ready datasets and develop automated reporting frameworks to establish a reliable single source of truth.
- Support market and competitor intelligence workstreams by connecting external signals with internal performance, identifying emerging risks and opportunities, and translating findings into planning implications and business recommendations.
- Analyze business performance across key metrics, channels, categories and products; identify root causes, assess forward-looking implications and recommend business actions.
- Analyze client data, customer tags and journeys to understand client profiles and behavior, including acquisition, retention, repurchase, purchase frequency, basket size, tier migration and high-value client performance.
- Support the Senior Manager in turning complex data and intelligence into decision-ready narratives, clear options and actionable recommendations for business reviews, planning discussions and cross-functional decisions.
- Distill analysis and intelligence findings into concise, stakeholder-ready narratives that highlight key messages, business implications and recommended actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence or client intelligence within luxury, beauty, FMCG or similar environments.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of commercial drivers, consumer behavior and omnichannel business dynamics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to structure ambiguous business questions, manage end-to-end analysis from problem framing to recommendation, and connect analytical findings to business implications and recommended actions.
- Hands-on experience in data management, data quality control, KPI framework design, dashboard automation and multi-source dataset analysis.
- Ability to work with large, complex datasets from multiple sources, such as CRM, POS, traffic and product data.
- Technology-savvy and comfortable with data platforms, BI tools, CRM systems and automation solutions; hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL, Excel or similar tools is preferred.
- High accuracy, ownership and attention to detail, with a strong governance mindset.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to work effectively with cross-functional, regional and global teams and external partners, provide clear updates, surface risks early, and propose solutions rather than only escalate problems.
- High emotional intelligence, resilience and confidence, with the maturity to collaborate across stakeholders, support a stable team environment, and independently own complex analysis from problem framing through business recommendation.
- Confidence in analysis and recommendations, with the ability to explain reasoning clearly, defend conclusions with data, and communicate with openness, humility and a solution-oriented approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
