Chanel seeks an Alterations Specialist for its Avenue Montaigne boutique in Paris. Full-time permanent role combining couture expertise with luxury client service.
Role & Responsibilities
- Partner with Style Advisors during fitting ceremonies to advise clients and ensure optimal garment comfort and fit
- Take precise measurements on garments and identify necessary alterations to perfectly adapt each piece to the client's morphology
- Pin garments according to Chanel house protocols and present alterations recommendations aligned with studio design intent
- Complete alteration specification sheets with accuracy and input measurements into the CASS database system
- Execute sewing and finishing work on alterations including basting, pinning, assembly, and final seams while managing workshop capacity
- Evaluate feasibility of complex alterations, estimate production timelines, provide cost estimates, and communicate potential garment impacts to clients
- Conduct final fittings to verify proper fit and garment condition before client delivery
- Coordinate handover of completed alterations to either clients or Style Advisors
- Track leather and knitwear pieces sent to external alterations partners and manage follow-up
- Lead Morning Brief presentations on alteration techniques and seasonal collection specifications
- Monitor supplies, materials, and equipment inventory; place orders and verify machine and tool functionality
- Master alteration ceremony protocols, proper garment fit evaluation, and feasibility assessment methodologies
Qualifications
- Formal training in couture with demonstrated expertise in both fluid and tailored garments
- Significant hands-on experience in garment alterations, fitting, and bespoke tailoring
- Deep knowledge of tailoring techniques and ability to adapt designs while preserving original intent
- Proficiency in reading and executing detailed alteration specifications
- Ability to work under time pressure and troubleshoot complex fitting challenges
- Fluent English language skills
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities
