Chanel Collections Manager position in Pantin, France. Manage heritage collections and coordinate internal/external artwork movements for this temporary contract role.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate transport of new acquisitions and collection transfers
  • Ensure proper localisation and tracking of all collection items across multiple storage sites
  • Participate in collection restoration, mounting, and display operations with collection curators
  • Monitor and assess storage conditions and packaging requirements across all reserve locations
  • Manage procurement, maintenance, and relocation of collection storage and handling equipment
  • Conduct regular collection inventories and verification procedures
  • Analyze availability and assess packaging, transport, and mounting needs for internal and external loans
  • Draft and oversee external loan contracts and agreements
  • Provide insurance valuations and coordinate customs documentation for international loans
  • Conduct and verify condition reports for collection departures and returns
  • Organize and monitor collection packaging and transportation logistics
  • Assess space requirements for new collection acquisitions
  • Evaluate collection transfer options between storage sites based on capacity
  • Manage relationships with external service providers and logistics partners

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in collections management or heritage conservation
  • Significant professional experience in collections management and circulation of cultural property internationally
  • Thorough knowledge of international transport regulations and customs procedures, particularly for fashion materials including textiles and animal-origin materials
  • Demonstrated expertise in preventive conservation practices and collection handling protocols
