Chanel in Paris seeks a Classification and Origin Management Coordinator (contract) to manage tariff classification and origin compliance.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manage tariff classification (HS codes) and rules-of-origin determinations for imports and exports, ensuring accurate classification across product ranges.
- Validate and maintain origin and customs-related master data in product and ERP systems; ensure traceability of supplier declarations and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, legal and external customs brokers to ensure compliant import/export flows and correct customs declarations.
- Monitor regulatory developments (EU and international trade agreements), advise stakeholders on implications and implement necessary process changes.
- Prepare and support customs audits, respond to enquiries, and implement remediation plans where non-compliance is identified.
- Develop and deliver targeted training and guidance on classification, origin rules and customs documentation to product and supply-chain teams.
Qualifications
- Degree in international trade, law, supply chain, customs brokerage or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience in customs classification, rules of origin and trade compliance within a multinational environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Harmonized System (HS) tariff nomenclature, EU rules of origin and preferential trade agreements.
- Strong analytical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage complex product portfolios.
- Excellent stakeholder management and written/verbal communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organisation.
Skills
Experience
3–5 years of progressive responsibility in customs classification, origin management or trade compliance at an international company or customs/brokerage environment. Experience supporting audits and cross-functional projects is required.
Education
Bachelor's degree in international trade, law, logistics, supply chain management or equivalent; professional customs certification or diploma is advantageous.
