Chanel Atelier Manager – Beijing. Lead luxury alteration workshop operations with artisanal excellence and client service focus.
Role & Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily operations of the alteration and tailoring workshop, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management
- Manage and supervise workshop artisans and technical staff, fostering excellence in craftsmanship and adherence to Chanel quality standards
- Coordinate closely with retail store management to process client requests, maintain timelines, and ensure seamless service delivery
- Monitor inventory of materials, tools, and supplies; maintain cost discipline whilst preserving service quality
- Establish and maintain quality control procedures, conducting inspections and fittings to ensure all alterations meet Chanel's exacting standards
- Develop and train workshop personnel on Chanel's service protocols, techniques, and client care standards
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication regarding bespoke services and alteration timelines
- Liaise with regional operations teams and leadership to report performance metrics, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in a luxury atelier, bespoke tailoring, or high-end alteration environment
- Strong understanding of garment construction, tailoring techniques, and quality standards in luxury fashion
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate artisanal teams in a service-excellence context
- Excellent organisational and project management capabilities
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English
- Familiarity with Chanel's brand values and commitment to personalised luxury service
Skills
Experience
5–10 years of progressively responsible experience in luxury fashion alteration services, bespoke tailoring, or artisanal workshops, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management capacity. Prior experience within the Chanel organisation or with comparable luxury brands is highly valued.
Education
Secondary education required; completion of formal tailoring, garment construction, or fashion design training highly preferred. Vocational qualifications in alterations or bespoke tailoring are advantageous.
