Chanel seeks Alteration Workshop Operations Manager in Beijing to lead tailoring excellence and bespoke services across mainland China.
Role & Responsibilities
- Establish and execute unified quality systems for alteration services, ensuring operational efficiency and consistent delivery standards across the region
- Integrate new collection tailoring techniques and best practices from Italian ateliers, disseminating standardized capabilities among nationwide teams to ensure consistency
- Collaborate with Alteration Development Managers and trainers to develop and enhance knitwear alteration expertise in accordance with international standards
- Manage daily alteration scheduling and task prioritization to optimize workshop efficiency and turnaround times
- Empower tailoring teams through coaching-led management to elevate 'Perfect Fit' bespoke services, supporting ready-to-wear business growth and customer loyalty
- Oversee full-cycle cost management including tracking, monitoring, and optimization within established budget frameworks
- Establish clear, quantifiable KPI metrics for assigned teams; identify high-potential talent and conduct regular performance reviews and feedback
- Resolve scheduling conflicts and operational challenges; optimize mentorship and apprenticeship systems to systematically enhance tailor capabilities
- Foster a high-performance team culture with strong cross-regional collaboration and knowledge-sharing mechanisms to unify service and technical standards
- Serve as primary liaison between the alteration workshop and key internal stakeholders including boutique tailors, CHANEL & Moi teams, Les Ateliers, and ADM functions
- Align service standards, training initiatives, and operational requirements to ensure seamless integration and continuous system optimization
Qualifications
- Proven ability to establish and execute high-standard quality systems for alteration and bespoke services
- Demonstrated expertise in guiding tailors in technical skill development
- Strong team management capabilities with performance-driven mindset
- Customer-centric orientation with experience supporting VIP clienteling activities and premium service scenarios
- Proficiency in scheduling management and task prioritization with operational KPI and inventory management expertise
- Experience in cross-regional workforce planning, resource optimization, and departmental budgeting
- Demonstrated success in designing team performance metrics, monitoring employee performance, and resolving internal conflicts
- Experience developing and implementing internal mentorship and apprenticeship programs
- Excellence in cross-departmental communication and multi-stakeholder collaboration
- Preferred: experience communicating with global specialist teams and implementing international brand standards in local markets
Skills
Experience
Substantial experience in luxury retail operations, bespoke services management, or artisanal production environments, with proven track record in team leadership, quality assurance, and operational excellence. Background in alteration services, custom tailoring, or similar service-delivery operations preferred. Experience supporting high-end clientele and VIP service experiences advantageous.
Education
Secondary education required; higher education in operations management, business administration, fashion technology, or related discipline preferred.
