Chanel Paris — Assistant Methods Engineer (Internship). Support production process optimisation and industrialisation within the maison's methods team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Methods/Industrialization team in the definition and optimisation of production processes for leather goods and related product lines.
  • Perform process mapping, time-and-motion studies and line balancing to identify bottlenecks and propose efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation: operation sheets, work instructions, flow charts and process checklists.
  • Collaborate with R&D, quality, production and external suppliers during pilot runs and industrialisation phases to ensure manufacturability.
  • Collect, analyse and visualise production data to quantify improvement opportunities and track key performance indicators.
  • Participate in on-site shop-floor observations and pilot assemblies to validate methods and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives (Lean/Kaizen) and support small-scale implementation projects.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an engineering or technical programme (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent) at undergraduate or master’s level.
  • Strong analytical aptitude with demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable process improvements.
  • Familiarity with production process documentation, time studies and basic industrial engineering techniques.
  • Excellent organisational skills and an aptitude for working on the shop floor with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset and the capacity to manage multiple short-term tasks within tight timelines.

Experience

Internship level: prior exposure to a production environment or one previous internship in manufacturing, industrialization or process improvement is advantageous but not mandatory.

Education

Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s programme in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related discipline.
