Chanel seeks an Assistant Tailor in Nice, France for a one-year apprenticeship beginning September 2024. Learn couture alterations in a luxury fashion environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Execute garment alterations according to specifications outlined in alteration cards and direction from senior tailors
- Interpret pin placements and translate them into precise alterations that honor the design intent and Chanel aesthetic
- Prepare alteration stages and coordinate with senior tailors to ensure proper workflow and execution
- Verify garment fit at each alteration stage by fitting pieces on mannequins to ensure optimal results
- Perform initial quality control checks on completed alterations and identify any refinements needed
- Press and present finished garments to senior tailors for final quality assurance review
- Participate in daily briefings and team meetings to understand boutique operations and house priorities
- Embody Chanel values and codes as a brand ambassador within the boutique environment
